GrowthCafe
GrowthCafeTM is a unique, one and a half hour opportunity to network and boost your personal development. There is no charge and you get a free coffee (or other refreshment).
The Growth Cafe meeting process is a great way to connect with Learning Practitioners, reflect on your strengths and areas for development, and get helpful free resources and support for your development.
Key Features
The power of GrowthCafe lies in its friendly environment, structured process, focus on L&D competencies, and genuine offers of assistance. It is defined by the following key features:
1. Facilitated Process
The GrowthCafe process is hosted by an experienced facilitator, who organises the meeting, clarifies the participation guidelines, and leads the group through the process. Only ILP members may host GrowthCafe meetings.
2. Based on the ILP Competency Model
The GrowthCafe process is based on the ILP Competency Model for Learning Practitioners. Attendees use a self-assessment checklist to identify their strengths and key areas in which they would like to develop.
3. Growth Oriented
Attendees help each other to grow by offering developmental assistance. This can happen in a variety of ways, from simply sharing an article or website link to providing mentoring or sharing examples of work done. The actual assistance is provided after the meeting.
One of the guiding principles of GrowthCafe is that no one is obligated to offer or accept help.
Because personal development is ongoing, regular participation at GrowthCafe meetings is recommended.
Attendance
Attendance is by prior arrangement with the host.
Members are welcome to invite a guest, if a seat is available.
The maximum number of participants who can attend is typically eight, but the host will determine the number of people who can participate depending on the venue.
Duration
A GrowthCafe meeting takes approximately 1.5 hours, but will vary depending on the number of attendees.
